Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
Overview
This privacy policy explains how the apps developed by Greg McInnes ("I", "me", or "my") and the topsettraining.com website handle your information. I am committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about my data practices.
Data Collection in the Apps
My apps do not collect, store, or transmit personal data, with the limited exceptions described below.
Except for the cloud features described below, app data — settings, preferences, workout logs, training maxes, and any content you create — is stored locally on your device. For most apps, this data never leaves your device and is not accessible to me or any third parties.
Exception for AI-powered features: Some apps (such as Top Set Form Check) offer AI-powered features that require transmitting your data to third-party services. See the app-specific information below for details.
Third-Party Services in the Apps
My apps do not integrate with third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. There are no ads, no analytics SDKs, and no data brokers involved.
Exception for AI features: Apps that offer AI-powered features (such as automated form analysis) use cloud services to process your data and generate results. This data is transmitted when you use those features or enable automatic insights. It may contain identifying information and may be retained as described below. See app-specific information below for details.
Data Storage in the Apps
Except for the app-specific cloud data described below, data is stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage mechanisms. This includes:
- App settings and preferences
- Any content or data you create within the app
- Workout history (if applicable to the app)
Deleting the app removes its local files from your device. It does not delete server accounts, provider records or copies in device backups; use the in-app account deletion control for server data.
iCloud
Some apps may use iCloud to sync data across your devices. If enabled, this data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is subject to Apple's privacy policy. I do not have access to your iCloud data.
Apple Health
Some apps (such as Top Set Training) integrate with Apple Health. If you grant permission, the app writes workout data — duration, calories, exercise type — to Apple Health. This data stays within Apple's Health ecosystem on your device and is never transmitted to any external server by my apps.
Children's Privacy
My apps do not knowingly collect any information from children.
The topsettraining.com Website
The website at topsettraining.com is separate from the apps and has its own data practices, summarized here.
Analytics
The website uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), and it is on by default. It loads as soon as you open a page — I don't ask you first. I use it to count page views, see which pages send people to the App Store, and learn which calculators and demo video people actually use.
That means GA4 sets a cookie on your device and sends Google your IP address (Google masks it) along with standard browser metadata, on every page you view. I do not collect names, email addresses, or any other personally identifying information from visits to the site, and I don't sell or share what GA4 collects.
The cookie bar at the bottom of the page is a notice, not a choice — dismissing it only stops it reappearing. It doesn't turn anything on or off, and I'd rather say that plainly than dress it up as consent. If you don't want to be counted, see opting out below; it takes one browser setting and it works.
Fonts and other third parties
The site's fonts are served from topsettraining.com itself, not from Google Fonts, so rendering a page does not tell any third party that you visited. Apart from Google Analytics, the website loads nothing from a third-party server.
Calculator inputs
The numbers you enter into the calculators on the site (1RM, plate calculator, RPE) stay in your browser. They are not sent to a server, stored on a server, or used for analytics. Analytics records only that a particular calculator was used, never the values entered into it.
Outbound App Store links
Links from the website to the App Store include a campaign tag
(ct=) that helps me see in App Store Connect which
page sent you. This is Apple's standard attribution mechanism and
does not contain any personal information about you.
Opting out
There is no on-site toggle, so opting out means telling your browser to block it. Any of these work, and the site works fully without analytics — nothing is gated behind being tracked:
- An ad or tracker blocker (uBlock Origin and similar block the Google Analytics script outright).
- Google's own Analytics opt-out add-on , which disables GA on every site you visit.
- A browser that blocks trackers by default — Firefox in Strict mode, Brave, or Safari — or blocking cookies for this site specifically.
One thing that will not work, and I'd rather tell you than let you assume: "Do Not Track" does nothing here. Google Analytics ignores the DNT header. If you've turned DNT on and expected it to cover this, it doesn't — use one of the options above instead.
Changes to This Policy
I may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.

App-Specific Information
Top Set Training
Top Set Training stores workout data, training maxes, program selections, cycle history, and settings locally on your device. No data is transmitted from the app. No account or sign-in is required.
Apple Health: If you grant permission, the app writes workout data (duration, calories, exercise type) to Apple Health. This data is used only within Apple's Health ecosystem and is never transmitted to any external server.
Apple Watch: The companion Apple Watch app communicates only with the paired iPhone to display workout data and sync rest timer state. No data is sent to any external server.
Top Set Calculator
Top Set Calculator stores unit preferences, plate inventory, and calculation history locally on your device. No data is transmitted from the app. No account or sign-in is required.
Top Set Timer
Top Set Timer stores timer settings, sound preferences, saved presets, and theme settings locally on your device. No data is transmitted from the app. No account or sign-in is required.
Top Set Form Check
Your full recordings, saved results and private notes stay on your device. After you explicitly allow AI sharing, sampled frames, the lift type and a pose summary are sent through Firebase / Google Cloud to OpenAI. Frames may include your face or identifying surroundings. Chat messages and relevant analysis history are also shared when you use coaching features; history insights can refresh automatically while AI sharing is enabled.
Our server temporarily keeps analysis responses for interrupted-request recovery. Response content is normally removed within 24 hours; scheduled cleanup can be delayed during service outages. OpenAI application-state storage is disabled for these requests, but provider abuse-monitoring retention may still apply. See OpenAI's API data controls. Video frames are processed in memory by our functions and are not uploaded as full videos.
Firebase Authentication creates a guest identifier. Optional Sign in with Apple links it to an account for recovery. Server records include the identifier, consent version, purchase transactions, entitlements, check balances, usage reservations and operational request counters. We use this information to provide the app, verify purchases and prevent duplicate spending, not for advertising or cross-app tracking. Purchase records and account data remain until account deletion, apart from minimal transaction tombstones retained to prevent duplicate consumable delivery. Technical service logs may retain request metadata under the hosting provider's retention settings; we do not intentionally log frames or chat content.
You can withdraw AI consent or delete your server account in Settings. Withdrawal stops new AI requests; it does not erase information already processed by providers. Account deletion removes associated server account data and revokes linked Apple authorization. It does not cancel an Apple subscription, which you manage in Apple's subscription settings. Local sessions remain until you delete them. Contact gregmcinnescontact@gmail.com for data requests or help recovering a purchase.
Share cards and video exports are created locally. The app sends an export to another app only when you choose to share it. Saving to Photos requires add-only permission. Social platforms handle the posts you publish under their own policies. Private notes and account details are not included in exports. Comparison exports include the selected session dates. The app contains no advertising or acquisition-tracking SDK.
